Crouch Valley’s November meeting has traditionally been dedicated to our annual photographic competition. Given the challenges we have had in getting sufficient entries and photos of sufficient quality, 2020 will see us trial something new – a Garden Show.

The format will be as follows:

  • During June and July, Keith and Steve will visit the entrants to take photographs/videos and measure/catalogue all the fish being entered
  • Keith will also take notes to help him judge the koi i.e. he will not be relying on just photographs this year
  • The results will be presented at our meeting in SEPTEMBER
  • The competition is open to all members unless you are too far away for Keith and Steve to travel to
  • There will be 4 size categories as shown below i.e:
    • Size 1 & 2 are combined
    • Size 3 & 4 are combined
    • Size 5
    • Sizes 6, 7 and 8 are combined
  • The competition will be based on the 13 BKKS varieties in the table below but will be grouped for competition purposes as follows:
    • Kohaku, Sanke, Showa, Tancho and Kin Gin Rin will form our Go-Sanke category
    • All other varieties will form our Non Go-Sanke category
  • For each category (i.e. Go- Sanke and Non Go-Sanke), there will be a best in size
  • The best in size winners will then compete for the major awards
  • The exception will be the GC which as in shows will be excluded from other award
  • The major prizes will be:
    • Baby (best in size 1 & 2)
    • Young (best in size 3 & 4)
    • Adult (best in size 5)
    • Mature (best in size 6 and above)
    • Best Non Go Sanke
    • Grand Champion
