| Club Night | April's club night was an eagerly anticipated occassion. Our guest speaker was to be our Closed Show sponsor Derron Simmons of Select Nishikigoi International UK. Derron was to talk to us about koi appreciation and bring along some koi to illustrate his talk. The hall was packed to bursting with an unusual rush for the front row and a good view! Derron had brought a selection of small koi which he used to highlight the good and the not so good points to look for when choosing a new koi. He concentrated mainly on body shape and how to assess whether the koi may have good growth potential, colour, what may come and what may go, (we've all been there) and skin quality. Derron also discussed the differences between the new 'hybrid' koi and the more traditional koi. There was ample opportunity to ask questions and get up close to have a good look at the young koi he had brought along. The evening was a great success with everyone feeling they had learnt something new. We now look forward to another visit from Derron and of course his continued support for our Closed Show. |
