Koi Appreciation

	This month we welcomed our Closed Show sponsor, Derron Simmons, to our club night. There was great anticipation because members knew that Derron had promised to bring a selection of koi to accompany his koi appreciation talk. We were not disappointed as he spoke with such knowledge and passion about the body shape, colour and condition of koi that we should all be considering when we purchase our 'living jewels'. Derron talked about what key features to look out for when choosing koi with the potential to grow into large jumbo koi. He discussed the differences and similarities between the new 'hybrid' koi and the more traditional koi from regions such as Niigata. There was ample opportunity to ask questions and debate topics as Derron took questions from members throughout the evening. Club members enjoyed the lively discussions and informative talk, going home with a good feeling of satisfaction and anticipation leading into the new season. After all we are seeing our koi become more lively as the weather warms up and the new season gets into full swing next month. What a great way to start the summer calendar. All club members would like to thank Derron for a great evening and we hope to see him again soon.
