The Main Quarantine System
The quarantine system is located in my double garage. It is an 8ft x 6ft x 4ft, 1000 gallons fibreglass vat, with a gravity fed Nitrotech 5000 triple pod plastic filter, returned back by Aquamax 8000 through a ProClear 55 watt UV.
First pod is a vortex, with a sieve fitted between  pods, second is foam with Japanese matting, third is foam with Alphagrog and oyster shells,
Strip lights run 18 hours a day on a timer and the fish are hand fed twice a day, morning and evening.
The filters are cleaned every other week and can be flushed direct to drain via valves on each pod.
The quarantine tank is also used for ‘growing on’ between new fish purchases. This system is not yet heated.

The Second Quarantine System

This system is also located in the garage and consists of a 50 gallon aquarium with black box filter fed by a pre filtered EHEIM pump, which is linked to a 30 watt GRO LUX tube which keeps the light on 24 hours a day. Aquarium plants keep water healthy. This system used to grow on small koi and is not heated.
