It seemed quite appropriate that in our 25th Anniversary year Crouch Valley returned to the Open Show circuit in the UK. We were very excited but at the same time cautious, about our new show. We hope that our show will have its own niche, small but beautiful, and be attractive to koi keepers who enjoy a good day out viewing beautiful koi. We were not disappointed. The 2015 show was a hugh success for us as a club and despite keen competion the Grand Champion was a Crouch Valley Koi. Our 2016 Open Show will follow a similar format to 2015 with the exception that we have moved to date into July to avoid clashes with other koi shows as far as is possible. We will hold the show as last year in the Farmer’s Market Barn at Barleylands, Billericay, CM11 2UD.
The show will have twenty, two metre vats available to exhibitors and they will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. As a Section of the BKKS we have adopted the Societies rules and regulations for open shows.
All thirteen of the show classes as defined by the BKKS JSC will be used for the benching and judging classifications, dependent on the koi entered for the show. All eight of the BKKS approved size classifications will be be used for the benching and judging classification, dependent on the koi entered for the show. Further information can be found on the ‘Guide to the Show’ handout.
The awards will be in three distinct categories, following the judging procedure:
1) In Class – 1st, 2nd, 3rd
2) In Size – 1st, 2nd, 3rd
3) Major awards
The major awards this year are: Grand Champion, Baby Champion, Adult Champion, Mature Champion,Best Non Go-Sanke, Best Doitsu, Best Vat, Unique Koi (CVKS members only), People’s Choice (voted for by visitors to the show).
